Style Tip from Marky:

“I don’t necessarily go for branded and expensive clothes or accessories. Depende naman pag ok ang dating sa akin, mix and match lang and there you go. Mostly I’d go for polo and polo shirts tapos sa jeans semi or medium fit. Minsan kapag medyo malaki yung nabili ko (kasi I grab it na kahit XL ang size kapag SALE), I’d have it re-fitted by a nearby tailor which costs me 50-100 Pesos per piece so malaking tipid na rin!”

Fedora Hats

You might think that wearing a Fedora hat will make you look like an “Illustrado” during Rizal’s time or probably one of the Backstreet Boys in the 90’s, but think again. This modern straw-made hat has one feature which separates it from all others – that is, having a sort of lace or band around it.

What outfit goes well with this? A white button-up shirt (polo) and a pair of dark trousers or any office attire. Definitely sleek and surely a standout.

Flat Caps

Flat caps have also been existing for as long as I can remember. But what’s the difference from the old ones compared to this one? It’s probably the design of the prints and the type of fabric used. It used to be that this type of cap is for casual outfit but this time, it can also be worn with your office clothes.

If you want to look different from the rest or you are simply having a bad hair day brought about by a new haircut, then try these on. It can really make your day! So tell me, which of these two have you worn and how was it?

I remember I was asked by a reader to suggest a new bag for school. This one is a good one. Though these dirty white messenger bags have been around for quite some time as popularized by Bench, they are still one of the most stylish bags to date. If you are still a student, it’s not yet late for you to shop for school bags because many classes are still suspended due to the pandemic alert.

Anyway, I bought a couple of stylish, inexpensive shades for the hot season as shown in the photos below:

I don’t really buy costly sunglasses for two reasons. First, is that I’m not used to wearing any type of glasses since I have 20/20 vision (based on my last check-up). Second, is that you wouldn’t wear them everyday unless you are on field work during noon or you just like wearing shades even if there is no sunlight (a big NO-NO). For these reasons, I only get myself sunglasses for summer trips to the beach.

As you can see, big, aviator sunglasses are still the in thing for men today. But it doesn’t really suit everyone because it depends on the shape of one’s face. I’m happy that these sunglasses look good on me. How about you?

Don’t you think that my predictions for 2009 are coming true one by one? Is it plain coincidence or am I really a promising astrologer?  Well I think that Kobe Bryant is reading Pinoy Guy Guide too since he knows that purple is “in”.

I was contacted by a Zoo York representative about a month ago to inform me that their clothing product lines have finally arrived in the Philippines. Just a bit of info: Zoo York is a fashion retail brand established in Manhattan. Most of their styles are street wear which includes clothes for skateboarding, graffiti, hip-hop, rock, military, and everything in-between. In this post, let’s see some of their clothing stuff for men.

Here’s their set of caps which look definitely hip-hop to me. It goes well for those who love that style.

Then here is their set of jackets with hoods. I love it. Reminds me of teens you see in the city streets.

Here we have their set of shirts. From the designs itself, it’s obvious that Zoo York is an American brand.

And aside from their jackets (which is my favorite), here comes my other favorite: SHOES!!!!!! Very hip indeed.

I’ve seen their store in Trinoma and it’s pretty good! Though their products are a bit pricey (above 1,000 Pesos for clothes and above 3,000 Pesos for shoes), they are very stylish!

I saw two types of these watches. One is made by ODM:

And the other is made by Levi’s:

I’m not sure if “Jelly watches” is the correct term to call it. So if anyone knows the correct name, post a comment right away.

Anyway, I’ve heard that the one made by Levi’s is being worn by a famous Asian actor so I see it being worn more often here in the Philippines. Out of curiosity, I asked a friend of mine how much these are and he said it was something like 4,000 Pesos? Quite expensive I must say!

But then again, if the cost isn’t an issue to you and you love the style, why not? The only thing that bothers me is that if this is just a fad in the country at the moment, you may find the watch difficult or inappropriate to wear a few months later. Well, that’s fashion after all. Now it’s in, the next day it’s out!

If you have ever passed by apparel retail store “Mint” or “Human”, you may have probably seen these so-called shutter shades a.k.a. Venetian sunglasses as popularized by Kanye West.

It’s pretty obvious why they were named as such. See, they actually look like the Venetian blinds which we use for our bedroom’s windows. PGG Forum member Jayvee, was kind enough to share how these glasses look on him when worn. If you would notice these shades come in two types. One, which only has shutters (as seen above) and another, which has shutters plus the glasses like Jayvee’s below.

These shades are really for style so it doesn’t matter if you wear it even when the sun is not way up high.
