Wear it for running
I guess it’s true that the Nike Free is built for running. It felt so comfortable wearing it that I felt like I wasn’t even wearing a shoe. (Nike mentions that you will feel like running on barefoot). This one is a must-buy for you if you like joining fun runs, running half an hour or more at the gym’s treadmill or even if you are just walking as an exercise.

So have you ever wondered what the “5.0″ and “v4″ meant in Nike Free 5.0 v4? Well according to Nike, v4 means the 2009 version 4 while the 5.0 tells how soft the shoe is. According to Wikipedia which I quote below:

“The Nike shoe scale goes from 10.0 to 3.0 with a ‘10′ being a fully supportive shoe, and ‘0′ being completely barefoot.

Example: The 5.0 Nike Free is like running halfway barefoot, the 3.0 is even less shoe, and the 7.0 is a bit more supportive.”

Wear it to party
If you have been strolling by shops or even browsing mags lately, you will notice that bright colors are the most popular nowadays. That’s why I chose the color variant “Volt/Dark Army-White”. I wore this at our company’s Christmas party and I tell you that most of my collegues WOWed at the sight of it. I received numerous compliments for this shoe and I can say that I’m lovin’ it day in and day out.

PORTLAND / HERZOGENAURACH (OCTOBER 15, 2009) – adidas Basketball is launching a new campaign for the 2009-10 NBA season titled It’s On Me for My Brotherhood.  The campaign, which launches October 15, celebrates the individuals of a Brotherhood and the contributions they make.  It’s On Me for My Brotherhood shines the spotlight on two rising NBA stars, Dwight Howard and Derrick Rose, and how adidas Basketball footwear and apparel improves their performance therefore strengthening their Brotherhood.

“‘Celebrating Basketball as a Brotherhood’ has been widely successful for adidas.  It hit home with the basketball-crazed consumer and we want to strengthen that relationship,” said Ryan Morlan, head of global communication for adidas basketball. “The ‘It’s On Me’ insight is a celebration of Brotherhood as told through the players that make it up.  While the focus is still on Brotherhood, it’s a challenge to the individual to step up and be faster or stronger in order to improve the team.”

It’s On Me For My Brotherhood comes to life through an integrated marketing campaign that is digitally centric. The campaign will be housed at the updated www.adidasbasketball.com where consumers can experience six sharable product films featuring NBA All-Stars, interviews with each and behind the scenes footage from various adidas events.  Online efforts also include the NBA, adidas, and EA Sports Become an NBA All-Star promotion, where fans have a chance to win the Ultimate NBA Experience and a trip to the 2010 NBA All-Star game in Dallas (for details on the promotion check out www.shopadidas.com).  adidas also partnered with Eastbay.com to generate exclusive content including an online chat, taking place on October 28, with Rookie of the Year Derrick Rose.  The digital initiatives will be supported with a special-effects driven TV spot featuring NBA stars Derrick Rose, Dwight Howard, Kevin Garnett, Chauncey Billups, Tim Duncan and Josh Smith.  Print ads and retail programs will also be implemented worldwide.

It’s On Me For My Brotherhood features new footwear designed to strengthen a player’s performance and contribution to their Brotherhood.  Howard, Duncan and Garnett will wear the TS Commander LT, a shoe that is 6oz. lighter than previous Commanders, giving them superior cushioning minus the added weight.  Rose and Billups will wear the TS Cut Creator which features ForMotion technology and a TPU lateral support piece to minimize stress during hard cuts.

In addition to the footwear, It’s On Me highlights adidas TECHFIT compression apparel, which will make its debut this season as the official compression apparel of the NBA.  TECHFIT includes the torso tank top, shorts and an arm and calf sleeve.  A new revolutionary Speedwrap ankle brace, which is five times more efficient than tape and reduces ankle injury risk by 40 percent, rounds out the new performance apparel that further enables players to step up for their Brotherhood.

Expensive
Think about this. Ordinary men’s shoes are around a thousand pesos while the average ones are 2,500 Pesos at minimum. They are indeed expensive compared to the same brand and quality of women’s shoes which are usually only half the price.

So have you ever wondered why men’s leather shoes are so expensive? Well that is for the simple reason that guys don’t buy shoes as often as women do. Men buy shoes as a necessity. Women buy it as a collection.

Dull
Aside from being expensive, there is one thing that bothers me these days. Why is it that the latest styles of men’s shoes are dull? Remember the good old days when men’s shoes are a bit glossy? Not as glossy as that of security guards’ but just the normal shine in shoes? I miss that because shoe manufacturers these days seem to be producing shoes which are no longer shiny. Perhaps it’s the trend but I’m not sure.

I guess that they knew that we had always been lazy in polishing, so shoes nowadays went from this…

The store is located at the ground floor of Greenbelt 3. As you can see from these photos, it’s really BIG.

I went on strolling around their huge store searching for new products. I was really after their shoes (what else do you expect?). A particularly interesting one which they launched is their new set of limited edition Adidas Philippine shoes (which has the Philippine flag colors and emblem similar to the so much in-demand Philippine Track Jacket).

It looks like Adidas has been pushing Philippine Nationalism in their products after so much success in their track jacket. However, the style seems to be slowly fading away, probably due to summer wear but I guess it will hit the mainstream again on the 12th of June and after that it might be completely gone.

Killer-looks

I never thought that Merrell has an attractive line-up of shoes like this one. If you look closely, you will surely love the gray and white combination of colors plus the big brown “M” on its side as much as I did. It’s distinctly bold and very catchy to the eyes. Very striking to wear especially if you have your black jeans on and would like to show off some style. Needless to say, after wearing it last Friday, I found most of my officemates staring down at my feet.

Outdoor or casual gimmicks

One reason I got myself a new shoe is for my summer getaways and travels with friends and families. I think this shoe will be perfect for such events. If you have been following Pinoy Guy Guide for a while, you may have noticed that I go for dual-purpose apparel – one which I can use for two or more occasions, not just one. This kind of shoe in particular is a good example which I can use not only for outdoor activities but also for my weekend gimmicks with friends.

Comfort and performance

I also tried my new pair of stylish shoes this weekend and it feels really comfortable to wear. I think you should try it and see for yourself. Maybe next time I’ll take this with me when I go to the gym.

A couple of weeks ago, I was at one of the SM supermalls to buy my baby girl some diapers. Yeah, I’d rather buy diapers in the grocery section of a shopping mall so I can stroll around a bit and check out the latest kicks and tops available in the country. So before I accomplish my task for the day, my eyes almost popped out of their sockets when I saw this baby:

Its definitely one of the sickest kicks I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Too bad I wasn’t able to take a picture using my own camera because the security guard standing by the boutique was giving me the dagger looks as if I was about to perform some voodoo trick and steal ‘em. Heck, in a perfect world, I would! Just look at the details of the new PUMA 917 midcut (named after the Porsche 917 driven by no less than Steve McQueen in that classic movie ‘Le Mans’).
