Santa Cruz

The Santa Cruz is a slip-on style loafer for easy on and off. It’s upper portion is made of canvas while it’s outsole is made of rubber.

It’s the same with the Santa Cruz but the difference is that it is made of waxed canvas for better water resistance.

Based from Crocs’ press release, these shoes are for the busy guys who want to wear something relaxing but still smart enough for the office environment. I guess these pairs are perfect for the city guys who commute and are always on the go.

Feiyue
Don’t know how to pronounce it? Me neither. But I’ve read somewhere that it should be pronounced something like fay-yweh.

Anyway, the word Feiyue means “Flying Forward” and is originally a Chinese sneaker brand which was used for martial arts. In recent times however, a French businessman bought the brand and since then the shoes have become more of a fashion item though some of their shoes can still be used for martial arts. Take a look at some of their hot collections below.

Sperry Top-siders
Sperry is the founder and original inventor of boat shoes similar to the one you’ll see below. The company has a long history and they have been around for quite some time in other countries but not yet in the Philippines until now. Take a peek at some of their collections below.

One of the most notable things about Sperry Top-siders is their trademark barrel lace knot on their shoe laces which is not that easy to imitate but is something which must be learned by anyone who owns boat shoes.

If you are into Sperry Top-siders and Feiyue, you can find them in Shoe Salon stores. I think that Complex store in Eastwood has them too and a single pair costs around 3,500 Pesos on average.

I first found out about this brand of shoes a couple of months ago at the launching of Complex Store, a shoe shop in Eastwood Mall. Complex Store carries several brands of shoes but what stood out for me is Creative Recreation (there’s something awesome about the name and their product line).

They are not your ordinary shoes and there is something unique about them. When the founders of Creative Recreation were asked during an interview of what category their shoes belonged to they said that they didn’t want to be put into the category of formal, casual, leather or any shoe type. All that they said was Creative Recreation is a “lifestyle shoe”.

Some people got confused with the term “lifestyle shoe”. But personally, I do like their idea. It’s like having that particular favorite shoe that you’d like to wear on almost all occasions possible – office, school, gimmicks, parties, dates or even vacations. This is really good news for students without school uniforms and for yuppies who would like to wear groovy shoes. Most offices these days in Manila are less strict in implementing formal clothing so I guess lots of guys could probably wear this type of shoes at work.

Now let’s take a look below at some of Creative Recreation’s latest collection. You’ve got to love them all as much as I do.

To rockfist11, if you are still reading, this one’s for you. You know, the thing with men’s shoes is that they ain’t really cheap. Trust me, I remember I went shopping with my date and she could find decent women’s shoes under 1,000 Pesos. But for us guys? It’s almost always above 1K!

The reason being is that us men normally don’t buy shoes as often as women. Women buy shoes for fashion, while we guys normally buy it just for the sake of having something to wear for the occasion. So the result is, shoemakers make men’s shoes a bit more expensive for guys since we only buy once in about 6 months or maybe until our last pair of shoes gets broken.

Now to answer your question, I found a very outstanding shoe made by Rusty Lopez. It’s a buckle-up pair of boots for men and it’s a definite must-buy. I suggest you to get one since it’s really amazing!

The price? 2,300 Pesos. Not much, if you consider the fact that it’s already 2010 and this is your gift to yourself this Christmas season. And yea, you are sure to find it worth every peso because given that it is very stylish, you can find multiple uses for it: you can wear it at the office, at the ball/prom, at a wedding, and even at an after-office party. I bought this pair of shoes a couple of weeks ago not because I’m going to attend an event. But because it’s just too good to pass. And it’s just worth it!

I’m not sure what’s going on with the white trend these days. First we had white jeans then now white shoes? What white could be next?

Anyways, I’m not really into shoes which are 100% white (like that of nursing students) but what attracted me to this GBX Uraha Slip-On is the blending of white, gray, blue and black hues. Although the shoe is majority white, the addition of other colors made it more pleasing. And just in case you are curious, the gray lining in front of the shoes which has “GBX” markings has a texture similar to that of a felt paper.

What about comfort? Well I think that this is one of the most comfortable casual shoes I’ve ever worn to date. I find myself picking this shoe all the time whenever I go out with friends.

If you’re a sports enthusiast and happen to go over Dasmariñas through Aguinaldo Highway in Cavite, you may want to stop by Dasca Sports Outlet.

Once you’re there, the first thing that will strike you is the sign of their 30% markdown on all items. What’s good is it’s not just for a limited time but offered all year-round.

I’ve been wanting to see the sports boutique after I heard about it from a colleague last March. After passing by to this particular store several times, I finally had the chance to pay visit and roam inside.

Be ready with their racks of Nike shoes.  Many choices on display including Air Jordan shoes and old stocks from the warehouse of Nike Philippines all in good condition. Price ranges from 700 to 4,000 Pesos. Not bad for an original Nike item. You better start checking it out before it becomes out of stock (they also have a branch in Bicutan by the name MJ46 Center). Most shoes are already in last pair.

I was tempted to buy one even if I’m not a big basketball fan. I’ve been looking for something to replace my old rubber shoes. Disappointing though because I have small feet. They only have sizes 9 to 12.

Wait, there’s more. Dasca Sports Outlet also cater jerseys, bags, jackets, Nike Golf polo shirts, visors, Pacman/Pride tees, slip-ons and other sports gears. They got stuff for women too. Take a look at the gallery below and click each photo to zoom.

Aside from Nike, they promote their outlet as a retailer of Adidas and Asics brands. However, I noticed very few Adidas products around the area.

In case you don’t find an item you want, try to go back every after two or three weeks. They’ll fill the store with new stocks by that time. The last time I went there, new shoes were already on display.

I don’t get easily persuaded with discounts since I’m still after the comfort, quality and style.  But I spotted a nice green Mojo flip-flops and bought a pair as an advance birthday gift for myself.

Elegance, indeed. You see, I recently learned that the folks from Sebago are launching limited editions of shoes quarterly. And when they say “limited”, they really mean it. As a matter of fact, only 24 pairs of these shoes exist per store across the 3 dashing styles. Click on each photo below to zoom.

So what’s the big deal with limited edition, you ask. It is the fact that you will rarely see another person wearing exactly the same pair of shoes. And if you are a trendsetter and a style-hunter, grabbing limited edition products should be your mission.

The big question is how much is a pair? Well, they are not cheap. This elite shoe costs Php 7,990 and are available only while stocks last at Sebago SM Mall of Asia and Hideout at Greenbelt 5.

Just an added FYI. This new limited collection from Sebago are actually modern boat shoes – shoes that are typically worn by sailors which can repel water. But through the years, it has become a fashionable footwear for men. It became a trend years back and we are seeing its return once again. I’d be excited to wear a shoe like this at the office, casual occasions and even on dates.

Speaking of skateboarding and men’s fashion, I’ve noticed people, most especially guys, who are wearing skateboarders’ clothes. Some are actual skateboarders, some are enthusiasts and fans and others for the sake of style. There are many stores at the Fort which offer clothes for that skateboarder look but the most popular one that we have in the metro is Zoo York. Click the image below to see their latest collection.

The clog with holes from Crocs is what made them famous. It has been there for quite sometime and it has become something like a “trademark” to them. I must admit that they look good and unique but as time passes by, I noticed that some people have outgrown that clog design which nowadays looks better on kids than on most adults.

But the good news is that for stylish people like most of us, Crocs has released a new collection of comfortable footwear called the ABF (Almost Barefoot) collection. I was fortunate enough to be invited by Crocs to be one of the guests at the ABF launching event which was held last week at Enchanted Kingdom Biki Water World. I will talk more about the event later, but for now, take a peek at the photo gallery below for the latest from Crocs. You might want to get yourself a pair!

My personal favorites would be the black one from Almost Barefoot (Men’s) and the black/yellow flip-flop just right above this text from the SS10 collection. They are the BESTEST!

And about the launching event? Well it was a blast! I went there with a very good friend of mine and we had a great time. There was a Crocs fashion show, an exhibit of the latest ABF footwear collection, a raffle, buffet, photo booth, games and free access to EK Biki Water World facilities. Oh did I mention that the Velasco Brothers, a finalist from Pilipinas Got Talent, was also at the Crocs event? Yeah, you read that right! They performed their acrobatic dance moves right in front of us and it was superb. Everyone’s jaw dropped during their performance and we found ourselves clapping to a standing ovation in pure awe! If you are still clueless of what I’m talking about, watch their video here.

And about the photo booth, this is what you call vain moments. But I just had to crop my friend off for her own privacy.

Their product launching was held in Trinoma and it featured bands, graffiti artists and so much more. I was there and I had a glimpse of the event as well as their product line.

Cushe’s product line includes outstanding shoes and sandals. Check out a few of them below:

Perhaps Cushe’s top of the line product which is currently available is their Manuka Fearless Sandals. They come in different colors. The one I have below is the Neon Carbon color variant which is a sure stand out. It feels comfortable to wear and it makes you feel like you’re feet is on a cradle. Just check out the design plus the molded outsoles on the edge.

And just in case you were wondering, the pair comes with a free hanger (the orange thing on the right). That hanger is actually a boomerang too. You can play with it when you are on the beach or resort with your family and friends this summer.
