At first, it might seem bizarre to see comic sketches on shirts, shorts, vests and even long-sleeves but if you come to think of it – isn’t it cool to wear one of these? I seriously had first, second, third and even N thoughts whether to buy this baby or not. Dude, more than 2,000 Pesos just for a pair of headphones? You might think I have gone nutts but when you hear the sound quality of this high-end headphones, I bet you will surely have forgotten the price. It’s all worth it and highly recommended if you are an audiophile like me who breathes music.

I feel like I’m a DJ when I’m using it. I remember when I played Jay Sean’s Down using this headphones. The bass and vibration gave me the feeling like I was in some dance club partying. It has a superb crisp sound and it’s very comfortable and stylish to wear. When I brought this to the office, I found my colleagues begging to borrow it. Everyone else wants one too. I even recommended this to my closest friends (who are audiophiles like me by the way) and they bought one for themselves as well. If you are planning to invest in a good pair of headphones, I suggest you try this one.

Speaking of Jay Sean’s Down, I just remembered that he will be here in Manila for a concert on September 3. If you’re a fan like me, let’s go and watch!

This is one of my favorite pairs from Mint and you can tell by the design, the blending of colors plus the suspender-like straps that you won’t be ending your day without receiving compliments. The straps are not really suspenders. They are there for you to drop it on the sides of your waist and to show it off.

Retrosexual is a word that has been used in two very different ways.

It sometimes describes an old-fashioned “manly man” – e.g. a beer and football-loving guy who cares little for his appearance.

But it has also been used, as in the example above, to describe someone who self-consciously adopts traditional masculine styles – e.g. old-fashioned manners and clothes typical of the early 1960s (think Mad Men).

Well it seems to me that maybe this is a men’s fashion revolution – and I guess men’s style and fashion of the past are coming back. Remember the Freemasons and Illustrados of the 1800′s?  The way they dress with that formal suit look, decent tie, walking staff and a smoking pipe?

How about the cowboys in Marlboro’s past advertisements?

I think that society is bringing back that classic and gentleman look in men’s style and clothing and perhaps that is the very reason why we are seeing Fedora hats recently.

Maybe retrosexual is just another fashion trend to some, but I guess the question is: Is there really a genuine retrosexual man who honestly doesn’t give a damn about looks, about hairstyle, about clothes and all that stuff?

If you’re a sports enthusiast and happen to go over Dasmariñas through Aguinaldo Highway in Cavite, you may want to stop by Dasca Sports Outlet.

Once you’re there, the first thing that will strike you is the sign of their 30% markdown on all items. What’s good is it’s not just for a limited time but offered all year-round.

I’ve been wanting to see the sports boutique after I heard about it from a colleague last March. After passing by to this particular store several times, I finally had the chance to pay visit and roam inside.

Be ready with their racks of Nike shoes.  Many choices on display including Air Jordan shoes and old stocks from the warehouse of Nike Philippines all in good condition. Price ranges from 700 to 4,000 Pesos. Not bad for an original Nike item. You better start checking it out before it becomes out of stock (they also have a branch in Bicutan by the name MJ46 Center). Most shoes are already in last pair.

I was tempted to buy one even if I’m not a big basketball fan. I’ve been looking for something to replace my old rubber shoes. Disappointing though because I have small feet. They only have sizes 9 to 12.

Wait, there’s more. Dasca Sports Outlet also cater jerseys, bags, jackets, Nike Golf polo shirts, visors, Pacman/Pride tees, slip-ons and other sports gears. They got stuff for women too. Take a look at the gallery below and click each photo to zoom.

Aside from Nike, they promote their outlet as a retailer of Adidas and Asics brands. However, I noticed very few Adidas products around the area.

In case you don’t find an item you want, try to go back every after two or three weeks. They’ll fill the store with new stocks by that time. The last time I went there, new shoes were already on display.

I don’t get easily persuaded with discounts since I’m still after the comfort, quality and style.  But I spotted a nice green Mojo flip-flops and bought a pair as an advance birthday gift for myself.

Elegance, indeed. You see, I recently learned that the folks from Sebago are launching limited editions of shoes quarterly. And when they say “limited”, they really mean it. The clog with holes from Crocs is what made them famous. It has been there for quite sometime and it has become something like a “trademark” to them. I must admit that they look good and unique but as time passes by, I noticed that some people have outgrown that clog design which nowadays looks better on kids than on most adults.

But the good news is that for stylish people like most of us, Crocs has released a new collection of comfortable footwear called the ABF (Almost Barefoot) collection. I was fortunate enough to be invited by Crocs to be one of the guests at the ABF launching event which was held last week at Enchanted Kingdom Biki Water World. My personal favorites would be the black one from Almost Barefoot (Men’s) and the black/yellow flip-flop just right above this text from the SS10 collection. They are the BESTEST!

And about the launching event? Well it was a blast! I went there with a very good friend of mine and we had a great time. There was a Crocs fashion show, an exhibit of the latest ABF footwear collection, a raffle, buffet, photo booth, games and free access to EK Biki Water World facilities. Oh did I mention that the Velasco Brothers, a finalist from Pilipinas Got Talent, was also at the Crocs event? Yeah, you read that right! They performed their acrobatic dance moves right in front of us and it was superb. Everyone’s jaw dropped during their performance and we found ourselves clapping to a standing ovation in pure awe! Their clothes are definitely for modern guys who love that “porma” look. Most of their styles are really extraordinary and unique. You will find it hard to find similar styles in other shops.

I didn’t have any intentions to buy clothes at that time because as I mentioned, I was there to buy a book and not clothes. But still, I ended up buying a short sleeve stylish dress shirt below which was on sale. It originally costs 1,699 Pesos but they sold it to me for only 999 Pesos.

It looks better in actual and when wearing it than the pictures above – I’m just not so good in photography. Pairing it with khakis or beige slacks is perfection! It also goes well with jeans.

And speaking of Philosophy, they only have two branches. One, as I mentioned, is at Bonifacio High Street (The Fort, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig) and the other is at SM Mall of Asia (Pasay City).

Now here’s the catch. Before my friend and I left, I looked around to see if I could buy anything else. To my surprise, I saw shirts which appear to be “for women”.

I asked them: “Isn’t this a men’s shop? Why are you selling shirts which look like uhm…”

My friend interrupted: “A blouse?”

The sales clerk answered: “Yeah it is a men’s shop.”

Me: “Then why do you have men’s clothes in that section where I bought my polo shirt and women’s clothes over here at the back of your store?”

Sales clerk: “The clothes here at the back are not for women. They are also for men. These shirts which look so flamboyant are for the metrosexuals and gays.”

Me: “So you sell clothes for straight men, metrosexuals and uhm, gays?”

Sales clerk: “Yeah, that’s our niche.”

Me: “WTF!”

My friend laughed out loud. And so did I.

Then I walked out of the shop with my new shirt feeling half the man I used to be.
