I was wondering how many people here go to the gym? Where do you guys work out?
i used to go to the gym before, siguro 2yrs dn ako naggym dati.. kaso nagsarado na yung gym dito malapit sa amin. Gusto ko n nga ulit maggym, kaso wala ako makita na malapit sa place namin. :)
haha. malas mo naman toffer? bakit nagsara?

ey David, i do weights pero as I like it lang. yun bang, iikutin ko lang ung mga machines na available. i seldom do free weights. takot kasi ako at hindi ko alam kung ano ang tamang routine o combinations. but i do cardio evrytime. any suggestions or tips?? :)
^ singet lang pero hindi rin naman ako expert.
baka kaya wala pang cuts, kailangan mo pa mag-lose some more weight. suggested din na mag free weights ka para may variety at yung muscle groups kasi mas nawo-work out rather than machines (na parang masyadong focused sa isang bahagi)

oo delikado mag free weights pag di mo alam.. mamaya ma injury ka pa.. hehe.. best is kumuha ka ng fitness trainer... if not.. cardio and ikot sa machines.. ayos na un!

Me? Sa Fitness First. Medyo mahal talaga compared sa ibang gyms.. pero binabayaran mo ay ang superb facilities nila at saka accessibility. Syempre mas maraming branches, mas OK db? :)

medyo tipid na way is "kontratahin" mo ang isang trainer. this is what i did before when i was still a member of FF. I made friends with a trainer tapos sabi ko sa kanya, turuan niya ako ng mga tamang paggamit at gawan niya ako ng program. I paid him 2K for 15 sessions. this is a lot cheaper than doing it the legal way na parang 2K isang session pa lang yun. may sideline pa siya. haha
downside lang ay hindi ka pwedeng tumapat kapag may schedule yung trainer with a paying client.

I agree on this.. there are trainors in the gym who know more stuff (who are actually PT) with regard to the programs they will give... try Gold's or Fitness First ;D

actually depende rin sa way ng pagbuhat mo kaya affected yung lower back and pelvic area mo kaya parang may nararamdaman ka sa testicle. baka kasi mali yung pag lift ng weights. :D

since gym na din lang pinag uusapan..ive just started goin to the gym..ala ako balak magpalaki ng katawan at sumali sa body building contest..toned bod lang gusto ko.

exercise and diet. walang specific exercise for the belly. at least may abs to help the muscles get toned but need to get rid of the fat first.

actually kapag medyo chubby dapat talaga may treadmill na kasama.. kasi lalo kang lalaki kapag nagbuhat ka lang.. ganun kasi nangyari sa isa kong officemate :o ... well, usually, ganito naman sinasabi ng mga instructors before magbuhat, treadmill muna for a certain mins ::) ::)
kapag treadmill muna, usually pang warm up lang yun.
kung buhat ka talaga, damihan mo ang reps at sobrang magaan lang buhatin mo. habol mo ngalay.

yup. im graduating this year. isang branch lang 'to. it's across st. mary's college at malapit sa timog area. the place is very cozy, konti lang tao dun, may cafe, at pinakagusto ko eh may wall climbing. medyo madaming celebs din kasi malapit sa abs cbn.

Yung pain felt the following day due to workout is called DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) which is due to microscopic tears in the outer layer of the muscle fibers. Siyempre kung may damage may pain felt dahil sa chemicals ng damaged tissue.
Kung sanay na yung katawan mo sa increased load, wala na yung fiber tearing.
Yung extra load ng weights yung nagpapastimulate ng growth ng muscles mo making it look bigger since hinde kaya ng muscle cells magmultiply.
basta wag mali yung pagbuhat.

wala sa picture ang additional olympic bars, EZ curl bar, pair of olympic sized db bars and additional na 220lbs na plate on top of the 300lb set.
astig.. yan din plano ko, unti-unti.. para sa bahay na lang :)
kung mas malaki ang floor area mo get a power rack, adjustable bench and Olympics sized weights/bar... kuha na lahat ng exercise nito... no need for the lat machine, madalang ko rin gamitin than what i expected. madalas pull-ups ang ginagawa ko than lat pull down. though power rack with pulleys would be better pero the one i mentioned pang budget meal with extra space sa bahay.

kung walang oras magpunta sa gym dhil sa trabaho and domestic demands (read: hitched) pinakamaganda na ang pambahay. kung mag-worry ka na tatamarin, i suggest na sa gym ka pa rin dahil iba ang motivation na sa gym nagbubuhat.
true.. yun nga eh.. araw-araw akong nag-gygym pero kasi monthly fee inaalala ko haha. kasi kung one time lang naman ang expenses sa pagbili ng mga equiptments, tas long term pa.. plan ko actually to put up a gym for my business pero after 5-7 years pa.. :)
It's my first day in the gym yesterday. Kapagod. The people were nice, and taught me some routine. I'm starting at 2.5lbs, but I think I can do 5lbs. I just started with the wrong weights kanina, at 10 lbs agad. :D

I don't go to the gym because i am so lazy. Computer and tv lang inaatupak ko after work. Slim ako, i weigh 125lbs. lang... 23 year old. Madami nagsasabi hindi naman daw ako mukang payat na payat, maliit lang daw braso at upper arm ko. Sa work ko, need ko nagbubuhat. As of now, medyo may laman na(or what you called "tiny" muscles). Kaso lang nga ang Shoulder ko maliit parin.
Can you guys recommend any exercises or trainings na pwed sakin na never been to gym? Ano dapat unahin pag iwowork: shoulder or chest?

Shoulder has more function than the chest which is not needed for daily activities.
I'd suggest buying dumbels if you don't want to go to the gym. Plenty of free weights exercises posted over the net.

actually totoo to pero di ko alam kung tama ginagawa ng PT ko na since supersets lagi.. kapag after sa isang equipment, then sa isa naman, then sa isa pa...kapag may gumamit dun sa unang equipment na ginamit ko, pinapaalis nya (in a good way naman, pero still...) kasi balik nga ako dun dapat at di dapat maputol ang supersets.. ako tuloy nahihiya :(

then habang nag ggym naman inom kau pro weigh or soya . mura lng soya 27 pesos lng sa mini stop :D protein giver yan .. tapos sa umaga abangan nyo ung magtataho bili kyo khit 10pesos ok n .. tpos ever 3hrs kain kanin :D basta kanin ;D

I'm guessing niwoworkout mo dati yung mga for show muscles (chest, bicep). hinde ka sanay sa mga annoying muscles to workout.

pwede yan. ako din ganyan. mas bibilis lang ung pag laki pag umiinom ng supplements. gawin mo na lang. eat high protein foods. regular work out. kain madami hahah

Puwedeng wala. Play mo na lang yung natural body hormones mo instead of relying on supplements and drugs. In my opinion, these supplements would do more harm to your body (kidneys) and your finances.
Yan nga ung ayaw ko, may side-effects kapalit ng benefits. Not worth it para sakin.

Karamihan ng mga ULTRAFAST acting supplements add in Sodium and Calcium para mas mabilis ang absorption (LALO na yang mga fast acting whey). Siyempre increased sodium leads to hypertension and Calcium to kidney stones.
Tapos yung mga Fat burning formulations (Hydroxycut etc...) are extremely potent with caffeine, adrenal chemicals and thyroid hormones which will literally squeeze the life out of your body para lang to make you use up more energy.

I do it in the evening dati after work.. minsan nga after gym, balik pa ako office..pero iba ang buhat sa umaga kasi may lakas ka pa haha.. pero ang di ok dun, pagdating sa office pagod na hahaha,, san ka pa lulugar :p nakatulong ba ako ??? ??? ???
pero kung ako tatanungin mo, mas oks sa umaga.. di ba sa umaga naman talaga dapat ang exercise ;D
wala naman parang "ideal" time to exercise. kung saan talaga masasanay ang katawan mo, much better. suggestion ko rin sa umaga kasi it can also boost your day kasi nga nakapag exercise ka and nawawala yung stress. at para sa akin, mas hindi nakakatamad. actually kung may time ka, ok sana yung mga 10.. tapos lunch ka para pambawi tapos tulog sa hapon. ayus!!
iba naman kaya talaga mag exercise even after work para mahimbing naman ang tulog etc...
tingin ko diyan protein supplement para mas maraming protein - pampatulong makabuild ng "biceps" hahaha
kaya yung iba, kahit soya milk or simply mag taho ka na lang...
gym din ngayon medyo walang silbi sa akin, kasi halos takbo lang ang ginagawa ko na pwede kong gawin na lang sa UP or sa Ateneo. hehe

So for me, its inappropriate na magkaron ng sodas sa isang gym. Coffee is ok on the other hand..

I think lolobo ka kase malakas pa dn ang pagkain mo eventhough wala ka ng work out. Compared dun sa malakas ang kain mo at me work out ka. Meaning, nabuburn mo ung calories plus nagbubuild ka dn ng muscles since masmadameng protein ang kinakain mo..
So kung iistop k n magworkout eh change n lng your diet na hinde ka magkakaron ng excess calories na pwedeng mastore sa katawan mo as fat..

Hmm, I like Gold's because of equipments.. Pero sobrng onte ng bench nila so pipila q for bench presses at shoulder presses. Pero un nga lang, inignore aq ng mga instructors dun. Huhuhuhu. Tuloy nagmuka aq ng slightly tanga nung na-angat q ung buong equipemnt nila w/c is hinde nmn dpat. so tinignan q p ung mga joints ng machine para malaman pano xa magfunction.. Ung shrug machine nga pala un. hehehe.

thanks, kasi hindi ko pa na try mag punta sa gym, siguro very soon i try ko, kaso yun yung worries ko na baka mag suffer lalo yung likod ko kpag magbuhat ng mabigat, at hindi pa ako knowledgeable regarding the programs na dapat kong gawin if ever mag gym man..
Trust me, magsu-suffer talaga likod mo.lol Naghanap din ako ng programs for people with back problem kaso parang hindi sya effective sakin. Hindi sya ganong ka intense. Kaya yung regular program na lang sinunod ko, basta iniiwasan ko lang yung military press. Natatakot ako na baka biglang magSnap na lang yung likod ko.hehe

I make it sure na I workout on noontime para konti or wala akong kasabay. Nakakadiscourage kasi pag nakikita mo yung iba na ang lalaki na ng muscles tas ikaw hindi mo pa ma-lift ng maayos yung 15lbs na dumbells mo. Nung sabado nga muntik na akong madisgrasya, buti nalang may tumulong sakin. Grabe sobrang nakakahiya. :'(

Wag ka muna magweights. Hintayin mo mag 17 ka bago mag hardcore gym.

I do cycling,badminton and volleyball. Nagdudmbell din po ako but only 15 lbs only. I do it daily. Then daily pushups muna and situps/crunches. 25 reps 3 sets. Okay na muna ba yun?? Thanks po

as in anything, you should strive to improve yourself.
Train harder stronger and faster.
No.. sa bahay lang, bumili kami ng mga free weights minsan body weight narin gamit namin for exercise. mas okay daw kasi ang free weights kesa sa machine..

hello, I am a new member here and also a new member at fitness first. Kabado talaga ako from what I have searched from the internet. Nung nakikipag usap ang agent wala siya nabanggit na 12mos. contract pero ambilis ng mga pangyayari at napa oo na lang ako. Wala namang problema yun, pero may tips ba kayo kung paano ko ma cacancel yung contract na yun pag di ko na kaya mag gym?

I'm more of the tall lanky type (blame my genes). And sabi ng coach ko sa Rubgy, I need to go to the gym for more muscle definition (and strength). Imma enroll again this March pero I don't know any gym na may wrestling program (for cross training na rin) suggestions anyone?
Guys, do you know any non-burgis gym who specialized in strength and power building (preferably with a trainer). I really need one. Need to build up strength before PNG

Nag ggym ko for 7 months already pero hindi na ko nakaka-workout lately dahil sobrang busy sa school.
Feeling ko back to zero nanaman ako :(
ngayon palang ulit. sayang ung gym club, sagot sana ng co. kaso malayo masyado so dito nalang malapit sa office. :(
malaking factor yan. kasi madali ka rin tamarin kung medyo hassle pa na puntahan yung gym.
^ tama. Kaya ako dito lang din ako nag wworkout malapit samin kahit hindi sobrang ganda yung gym

I kinda picked up my workout schedule now.
Increased to 4-5x/week working out limited by leg day (2-3 days recovery).

I just recently signed up sa GOLDS libre kc sa office. anu mga tips nyo sa mga newbies.
Start with strength conditioning aka 5x5.... ask the trainers how to perform the exercises you'll need, btw these are basic compound lifts that are indispensable kahit ano man programming.
Deadlifts
Bench press
Shoulder press
Pull ups
Squats
pendlay row

These are actually the same program they gave me. I need to work on my back kc mejo weak daw ung lower back ko.
that's great! just stick on this protocol when starting:
Form/technique then speed then load.
focus on form and right technique first even in a very light weight. the purpose is to lift right and have the body awareness where you can tell that your spine is always straight...
speed just means the fluidity and explosiveness of the movement. but some school of taught prefer the slow 5 sec executions. but in olympic lifting standards, explosiveness of movement is king esp on complex oly lifts like snatch and clean and jerk
weight, this will be the last of your concerns. mas bilib ako sa bumubuhat ng tama kesa sa mga mabibigat na nandadaya ;)
here's the basic naman sa squat but translate even to deadlifts, snatch, clean and jerk, shoulder press...

to keep it simpler kung paano ang neutral midline. sandal ka sa pader, with heels touching the wall.. mapapansin mo pwet lang naka-dikit.. in order na maging straight from head to heels:
1. tighten abs and butt
2. pinch and bring down the shoulders
3. chin in... dito mapapansin mo didikit na ulo mo sa wall
then remember that feel na diretso or aligned ang head to butt down to heel... yan ang set-up mo everytime you start a lift... even sa deadlift, kapag nag-ben ka you need to keep the upper body stratight - head to butt aligned.

as much as possible dont be intimidated, lahat naman nagsisimula @ certain level. very rare naman yung may makasama ka na sobrang lakas at genuinely fit agad.... btw m ay kasamahan ako sa box ko na ganito. even the owner and coaches nagulat sa fitness level nya. yun pala dati syang US marines hehe but still he's very much open to learn new skills and improve his flexibility esp his shoulder mobility.
