I don’t really buy expensive clothes or accessories, not just because I can’t afford it (hehehe), but because I believe that we can all look good without really sacrificing our budget. You just need to know which clothes or accessories best fits you and of course you must be comfortable wearing it.” ~George

“Wearing bright-colored shirt and a pair of sunglasses in this season doesn’t mean you’re outcasted. Remember guys there would be times when the sun is up and the humidity still kicks in all day. Just wear appropriate clothes based on what the weather is on that very day. I’m sending this simple Portside yellow shirt and gray Oakley shades just to give emphasis that the rainy season isn’t an excuse to ditch all your summery clothes in your closet. And in addition, I’d like to emphasize that I’ve been patronizing Jockey items, from boxer briefs (I’m after the durability as some other brands would have their garters “bacon” after a laundry or two) to sandos (which I even wear when working out at Fitness First).”

It’s funny really. Some people are just so good in making these clever statements and when you put them on shirts, they become an instant hit among statement shirts.

Got the model in you?
Yep, you’re right. Show Your Style aims to inspire readers of Pinoy Guy Guide and members of the PGG Forums to dress up and show their stylish side. By showing in PGG your own choice of clothing, you get to inspire other guys to be their best selves.

Dude, I don’t understand… what do I need to do?
Dude, the idea is very simple. Just take photos of yourself (the way you take pictures for your Facebook profile) wearing what you feel like and send it to my email at

After I send my pics, now what?
Upon sending of your photos, we will feature your style here in Pinoy Guy Guide. Please note that not all entries are guaranteed to be posted and featured in the blog. It is still subject for review.

Okay, so what do I get in being part of Show Your Style Season 2?

Couple Shirts

Every once in a while I see couples wearing uhm, how do you call them? Couple Shirts?


Well, it looks sweet but don’t you find it a bit cheesy? I know it’s none of my business but sometimes, when I walk at the mall and see a couple wearing it, I imagine how hard it was for the girl to convince the guy to wear it. I mean, don’t get me wrong: it’s cool, no doubt. It’s just that it’s not too often that we guys would initiate something like this with our girlfriends. Or maybe it’s just me?



On the bright side, I realized, that these shirts make good presents for monthsaries or anniversaries. Your girlfriend will really appreciate your effort for something like this. Just make sure that when you wear this shirt, your girlfriend is always beside you. Otherwise, when she’s not around or when you’re all by yourself walking alone, the statement on the shirt doesn’t really make sense.

Filipino Men: the most Narcissistic in Asia

Last week, I was rummaging through my friends’ feeds on Facebook when I found an astonishing article from Yahoo. It says that we, Filipino guys, are the most vain and Narcissistic boys in Asia. I was like: WTH?!

The controversial article – published in Yahoo over here – mentions three very intriguing points:

1. That 48% of Filipino guys found themselves sexually attractive compared to 25% of men in Singapore, 17% in China and Taiwan and only 12% of Hong Kong guys who think of the same thing about themselves.

2. That 9 out of 10 Filipino men wanted to look good for themselves, not for anyone else.

3. That Filipino guys are too busy gazing lustfully at themselves in the mirror.

 

If this study was that accurate, then Hail Narcissus! :mrgreen:

Greek Mythology has it that Narcissus was so obsessed (and in love) with his own reflection in the pool that he jumped in the pool and drowned (or in some myth versions, just died watching his reflection in the pool). Well, I hope that Filipino guys won’t do anything as crazy and stupid as that.

I do think however, that it’s cool to dress up, groom and look good for the women and to feel great about yourself. Looking your best self can spell the difference between dating the hottest girl and being turned down (a.k.a. “basted”) OR in in some cases, getting that dream job and being unemployed. Looking good is a confidence booster BUT don’t overdo it. Because as cliché as it may sound: too much of something is bad. Actually, being too vain is a huge turn-off for chicks you know.
