at least pwede sila i-sangla just in case. it also tells a lot about you!

yup totoong essential ito. puts the modern in man. hehe!

para sa akin, rather than wear common jewelry, watch na lang. and invest in a good one yung pwede rin mai-sangla just in case in the future.
Title: Re: Watches for Men
Post by: hiei on December 20, 2009, 02:08:33 PM
my 2 cents on watches... its better to invest on the classics at least di maluluma after a year... ano bang mga classic design?
a. typical dress watch - round and thin watches with black or brown leather strap
b. sports watch - divers or chrongraphs... kung modern twist sports oriented digitals
c. modern - usually rectangular or square watch.

brands? from affordable to uber expensive mayroon nung classic designs.

Title: Re: Watches for Men
Post by: angelo on December 21, 2009, 12:26:51 AM
i got what you are thinking. ditto.
even for the "branded" ones, i get the classic designs since it is still the same throughout the years.

meron ba sa inyo who go for the "de-cuerdas" type of watches or at least the automatic ones?
Title: Re: Watches for Men
Post by: hiei on December 22, 2009, 12:25:01 PM
the one with the overdue calibration/maintenance is an automatic.... afaik every 3 ata or 5 years ang maintenance and pagbalik ng relo sa iyo parang bago ulit since na-polish ulit ang bracelet. scratch proof naman ang salamin kaya no need to worry sa gasgas.

di ko pa napamaintain and it lasted at least a decade bago naging in-accurate ang oras. yup, sa service center mismo dapat dalhin, and based from suggestions may mahusay na gumagawa sa sfo.

- 42mm square aviation watch with phantom dial (all black and matte)

- eto long shot pang formal tourbillon mech watch... hopefully end of the year. btw di swiss tourbillon movement dahil presyo ng isang decent na bahay sa isang subdivision plus oto ang lowest priced swiss tourbillon... mayroon na rin mga chinese, malulupit rin ang mga HK based watchmaker ;)

lastly, movement pa rin magkakatalo kung gaano man ka-complicated... most watches sa market dials lang pinagkaiba then parehas lang mechanism sa loob. i'm not a horologist but this is the way i see it. as for technomarine, they HAD their shot... ngayon para lang silang nalaos na celebrity trying to make a come back thru a reality show  :D

......na-try nyo na ba ung watch na may multiple function like it has a gps, it is a mp4 player, it has a camera, etc. ok ba ung mga un?

may pang-gym/bike akong relo na may heart rate monitor capability. very useful sya lalo na kung gagamitin mo. kuha sana ko ng garmin that has GPS and cadence function. kaso masyadong mataas ang expectation ko sa relo. bread crumb type GPS pala which is logical unless may map ng trail ang garmin.

check mo suunto at casio - protec or Gshock riseman, kung gusto mong relo ng maraming functions. my top pick is Gshock riseman.

You can always go to a shoe store and have it cleaned. Some recommend the baking soda and water therapy but I think it may be too harsh for the leather.

Always moisturize your leather. I had mine done once to twice a week. It's cheaper to buy a leather moisturizer.

For malling, tambay tambay - Casio G-shock

I love watches as well, especially the ones with large faces, though I'm finding a new one since the strap on my Adidas watch is already broken and I'm having a hard time looking for a watch repair shop that has a strap like it. Been to Asprey and they said that they have to order the strap 4-6 months in advance (depending on availability pa!). Sigh.

Any ideas what brands that I can buy without busting my wallet? Thanks! :)
Title: Re: Watches for Men

that's why i suggest buy a brand that makes watches as their core business.

other brands are considered fashion watches. case in point, your adidas watch is not the core business. so replacement and parts are not readily available. (and i doubt if they can actually produce a similar strap without faking it)...
Title: Re: Watches for Men
Post by: kscaps2014 on September 20, 2014, 10:50:29 PM
Angelo, I do hear from watch enthusiasts about avoiding buying fashion watches. It's just that I'm kinda more attracted to them than the watch brands themselves, and the ones that I do really like are way too expensive for me, so I just settle with the fashion brands.

As for the adidas watch, it was a Christmas gift from my aunt in Canada. She said she bought it from a Fossil Outlet store, since Fossil makes watches daw for Adidas as well as for Michael Kors. Not sure if it is true.

Just been to SM Megamall and passed by a multi-brand watch store named WSI. It sells really nice watches like Fossil, Michael Kors, Armani Exchange, Karl Lagerfield and the like, and basing on some of the articles written about it online, WSI is a watch concept store founded by The Fossil Group, which then I presume that all the other watches in that store aside from Fossil is made by Fossil.

Pricewise, they're just about the same as all the other watch stores around. Plus, they're opening another store in Trinoma soon.

Ang gusto ko when it comes to watch is durability. I bought my swatch last 1999 and I'm still using it today.. Now, if they can add some visual eye candy to it like having it multi-function. that would be nice.. However, graphics and durability don't mix.

I love watches!

Currently, may dalawa akong oversized stainless steel watches of the same brand,
isang black na medyo fancy,
isang oversized stainless steel with black leather strap,
isang black plastic digital watch,
isang lego watch, at
isang blue velcro strap na digital watch.

I've always wanted those huuuuuge Casio G-shocks pero for some reason eh never ako nagkaroon nun. Weird.

I love watches!

Currently, may dalawa akong oversized stainless steel watches of the same brand,
isang black na medyo fancy,
isang oversized stainless steel with black leather strap,
isang black plastic digital watch,
isang lego watch, at
isang blue velcro strap na digital watch.

I've always wanted those huuuuuge Casio G-shocks pero for some reason eh never ako nagkaroon nun. Weird.
