Title: dry skin tips
Post by: badboyjr on June 04, 2009, 11:47:44 PM
Sa mga may dry skin try nyo itong tips na ito to avoid dry skin

Dry Skin Relief

Does dry skin cause wrinkles? No, this is a myth.

Some causes of dry skin are:
Cold weather and low humidity

Central heating can make air dry which can cause dry skin.

Aging - Lower estrogen levels, thinning skin, and the fact that our skin can not produce enough oils are some of the reasons our skin is more prone to dryness as we age.

Dry skin affects people who have skin type I or II more frequently.

In some cases dehydration, malnutrition, diabetes, eczema or low thyroid hormones can cause dry skin.

Treating dry skin:
When you shower use lukewarm water and don't take long showers or baths.

Apply moisturizer while skin is still damp to seal in moisture.

Use mild soap and avoid perfumed soaps.

Use a humidifier at home.

Avoid skin care products that contain alcohol.

Don't wash your face too frequently.

Use moisturizers which contain emollients. Emollients, such as urea and mineral oils, soften skin and provide a barrier to keep moisture in and harmful agents out. Your moisturizer should also have lipids (fat or waxes) such as cholesterol, lecithin or glycerol.

Dry skin can cause flaky and rough skin. To get rid of the layer of dead skin use a gentle exfoliant containing alpha hydroxy acid or beta hydroxy acid.

Wear sunscreen.

Apply moisturizer frequently.

sharing from what i learned. :-)

don't say, "dry skin LANG yan", because dry skin MAY be a sign of a systemic disease.

on the other hand, dry skin may be avoided by:

- DON'T take a bath too long, or say huwag magbabad sa tubig ng napakatagal

- DON'T use high pH soaps

- USE moisturizers every after taking a bath and before going to bed to sleep

- as much as possible, USE moisturizers that are plain, or those that are unscented... scents may cause allergic reactions to your skin

yun lang muna. :-)

Freckles are hyperpigmented areas sa skin na walang kinalaman sa dryness. Yung melanocytes (ito yung cells na nagpoproduce ng skin pigment called melanin) dun sa basal layer ng epidermis nagpoproduce ng maraming melanin. Kaya may hyperpigmentation dahil dun. :-) bakit nagkakaroon nun? Sa aking pagkakaalala, may genetic predisposition ang mga may ganyan. May gene sila na kung na-expose ang skin sa uv rays, magtitrigger ito sa melanocyte to overproduce melanin. :-)
