Title: FAQ's on Posting
Post by: Chris on February 01, 2011, 01:26:38 AM
hey...

I added moderators to make sure we get rid of spam. As part of being moderators, they have volunteered to help maintain the correct atmosphere at the forums.

Here are Frequently Asked Questions from PGG members:

1. Is porn allowed?

No, porn posts are absolutely NOT allowed. They will be deleted by admin/moderators. We don't want to get our site banned.

2. Are sex topics allowed?

Yes, in moderation, because we have a category for that. However, sex topics should follow the rules below:

a. Topics/Posts should be healthy discussions of do's and dont's regarding straight sexual relationships. This should be a venue to share and to learn what women want from us guys.

b. Sexual solicitation in any form is prohibited.

c. Gay-oriented sex topics are NOT allowed. (Sorry guys, this is a straight male forum)

3. What other types of posts are not allowed at the forums?

a. Threads/posts which are abusive or which threaten other members.

b. Gay-oriented posts. (Guys, I'm sorry I have to draw the line once again. We do not discriminate but this is not a gay website. This is a straight male website hence the name Pinoy Guy Guide. We do not want to scare straight readers away.)

c. Posts that are spam in any form.

d. Posts with blatant advertising.

e. Posts which are off-topic.

Have other questions? Let me know so that I could add to this list.

Note: Pinoy Guy Guide Forums Team (admin and moderators) reserves the right to modify, alter, delete any threads or posts not complying to PGG policies, with or without written notice or explanation.

May I suggest to ban posters who do type in a "jejemon" way or purposely misspell a word out of convenience (txtspeak)???

^ my suggestion is to delete posts. but it would be too tedious for moderators to do that...

this sounds so offensive but to prove a point and even CITE an example, your own grammar fails to differentiate Cite with Site.

non-practice invites error. i know you will forever be docile to correction but i am just hoping for your own good.

well it was just a suggestion. had it been final, them im sorry for you. but no action has been taken.

my point was just it is more proper to have words spelled correctly and we all practice good grammar. doesn't it help you one way or the other to practice correct spelling and grammar, especially when you write your formal documents. it is a shame on your own self, should other people see it.

at least as i said in above post, it will sound so offensive to correct. but at least you get to know something new and correct.

at the end of the day, we are all filipinos, who are supposed to be better english speakers/writers than most asian countries. it is a pity too that koreans and taiwanese are now starting to rise at our expense..

I speak and write english all the time and so far I know I am submitting all documents accurately

this is an informal place where I just can be free and not worry about people who judge... like you and who think he is better of than everyone else.. like you as well  :P

and in this forum..the hell I care if I don't posts correct spelling or grammar..I may be a lesser person to you but I know myself

as i have expected, people will react and be docile to correction...

just like most filipinos who reacted to the "desperate housewives" issue and i remember there is a thread here about chocolates branded filipinos or something to that...

when we are corrected/commented/something is said, we always react violently. we do not see what is wrong within or where it may be coming from; but we are very good at laughing at others' mistakes. fair enough?

let us look at this recent thread:

sorry nabother lang ako sa title ng thread i don't know kung sadya or anything... pwede paki-ayos? or paki-Tagalog nalang. pwede naman e. :P

isn't it of the same value?

I do not claim you or anybody else is lesser of a human than i am, or vice versa. the objective is to correct so that later on, we do not end up as topics to make fun of.

If you do not see the value of doing the best and aiming for the best (since nobody is perfect), then that is your own personal quality standard. I will not touch on that anymore. It is your own life, you can live it the way you want it.
If you do not appreciate the effort, perfectly fine with me. it says a lot about you.

correct. but the point is not taken. huwag naman daanin sa pagiging pilosopo. Since when did we write formal documents here?

If you guys wish to proceed with your ways, carry on. no problem. sa PEx nga kaya nilang gawin iyon, what makes it difficult if we do something similar? just a thought, not a rhetoric.

I tend to agree in general about deleting off-topic posts. However only those that are already too far off track, and those that already filled more than a page. Sometimes some off-topics posts keep the forum more interesting.

I could still tolerate common txtspeak. But not jejemon or l33t sp34k.

We don't have to be grammar nazis and point out every grammatical or spelling error though.

well said fox69.  8) 8) 8)

Before what I said get interpreted into something else, I just want to say that the point is to moderate in moderation, hence the term "moderator".

in the post above, the suggestion was to delete the off-topic posts. - this was in connection to your answer of what is in my mind, since I asked what is to be done with the off topic posts, being not allowed in the forum.

my own personal suggestion was to "ban" the jejemons or the people who type in txtspeak for a matter of convenience. this, again, remains as a suggestion.

i also agree with carpediem that to some extent, it is unavoidable to have OT posts. but i think everyone will agree that a certain thread can digress into something really not relevant to the original topic. (we do not want to point fingers here but you will certainly notice there are a lot) this is what is considered OT, as I think,  everyone would agree.  it becomes tricky on the part of the moderator, but that is the challenge.

thank you very much for pointing it out. I can mean hostile, but I actually meant NOT docile to correction. there are different reasonings but these are in a way to "defend" oneself, rather than to check and accept what was done wrong.

I am not here to become a grammar police. it is just a goal that we all have to strive for excellence, dont you think? lahat dito may mga kanya-kanyang galing at talino. sayang lang talaga kapag hindi na-u-utilize..

the reason i pointed out a grammatical error is to TRY to prove the point that purposely doing txtspeak or the jeje language can actually affect your communication skills. i do not know if im correct, it is just an observation.

^ My apologies for my replies. Like I mentioned, I only replied to threads that have the word "bading" in the title. I never started the topic.

My intention was to answer those threads and since I'm the best person that can answer those "bading" threads. If you find my posts/answers overboard, my apologies and rest assured that I'll lessen my posts and eventually leave this forum altogether.

I also suggest to change the title of the forum to Pinoy Straight Guy Guide because gays are also guys.

I can definitely say that I'm a guy! So if you don't want gay guys posting to threads that have the word "bading" in the title, please specify that this forum is intended for the straight guys ONLY.

I enjoyed my stay in this forum and learned a lot from you guys. Until then, goodbye :)

Title: Re: FAQ's on Posting

hi elmer. I'm not asking you to leave. I'm just asking you a favor to please refrain from going overboard as per the guidelines here:
http://www.pinoyguyguide.com/forums/index.php?topic=1850.0

I have received some emails from both old and new members asking me if this is a gay forum and I said that it is not. We do not discriminate but we also we do not want to give a wrong impression that this is a gay forum. Regardless of anyone's orientation or gender, you can post anything as long as it complies to the guidelines above.

Given that we value each member's input and feedback, I'm just trying to maintain some balance to PGG  so that it serves its target audience well.

And let me repeat. I'm not asking anyone to leave. I'm just asking everyone to help steer PGG to the right direction.

Thanks for your understanding,
Chris

Thanks.
It would also be great if we could have benchmarks on posts that have sexual context. How explicit or implicit is acceptable?

Also regarding off topic discussion, after some time in the fora highway, this is something that can't be really be avoided. How are you planning to avoid this?
Title: Re: FAQ's on Posting

BTW, these are the topics that I replied to mostly:

bakla ka na ba pag nablow job ka ng bading especially during your youth days?

Oh no, my best friend's gay... haha.

Pano malalaman kung bakla ang kaibigan mo.

BAKIT BA NAGIGING BAKLA ANG IBANG LALAKE

THE GREAT MALE SURVEY

PANSEXUALITY

Man+Man =Gay?

sexual experience with gays...

may gay-dar ka ba?

Hipocrisy for being gay...

Yung ibang topics n'yo kasi, magnet for gay guys to react :)
Title: Re: FAQ's on Posting

I am actually thinking of removing all sexual topics at the forum regardless if straight or non-straight.

And I agree with elmer0224 that some topics are just gay magnets which should be removed.

We just need to draw the line somewhere. thanks!

Why remove the posts that are sex-related? Sex is part of being human. You can't stop people from talking about it. You can only moderate it to comply with Internet's standard so as not to ban the forum or something :)

What's there to discuss among straight guys if there are no sex topics? :)

Listen to an average usapan/inuman sa kanto among straight, madaming-anak na guys, it's all about conquest with the girls even if they're married. That's the reality. Those guys are straight guys. Irresponsible but still straight :)

Sabi ko nga, I've been with straight guys all my life.

Ang usapan lagi is about raising a family, work, kids, asawa, sex, extra-marital affairs, finances.

On the contrary, I'm straight and can talk comfortably about skin care, porma, how to be sweet to your date, etc. wag naman mangkahon. hindi naman lahat ng straight males nagsusubscribe sa "ang tunay na lalaki" definition.

agree though with your usual topics pero you left out sports and video / pc games :)

^ I'm speaking from my own experience. I would love to meet straight guys in person who's comfortable talking about vain-ness -- and be friends with them :)

Yeah, I forgot computer games, console, DotA and sports. Thanks for adding those things :)

I agree with some parts of the previous posts but the idea here is where do we draw the line from being explicit and implicit?

The Admin has the right to provide guidelines acordingly. That's fine by me. My stand is having definite guidelines to determine when and where we cross lines.
