ayaw mo subukan maging crew ng mcdo/jollibee/pizza hut? kahit part time lang this summer. makakaipon ka na, may work experience ka pa na pwede mo magamit sa resume mo in the future.
depende sa allowance mo per day pag malaki makakapag ipon ka honestly kahit college na ako maliit lang ang baon ko per day 120-130 at ang schedule ko ay 7-5pm no choice kung di pagkasyahin i2 kasama na ang pamasahe papunta at pauwi

When it comes to savings, common lang ang ginagawa ko: Income - Savings = Expenses.
Tapos meron ako mga Coin Bank and jars para sa savings and expenses ko.
I have Piggy Banks for the following:
1.) For travel - naghuhulog ako ng specific amount and then if in case may outing or trip kami ng mga friends ko, dun ko kinukuha, solely for short distance travel lang like travel within Luzon or Visayas.
2.) For my annual savings, bukod siya sa savings ko for a month
3.) bago lang pero for investment, like stock market or mutual fund (I already have mutual fund under my insurance and UITF).
4.) for sharing or goodwill, ito yung ipon ko na isine-share ko for charity or donation,
5.) For savings talaga
========

nice.
I noticed no, that the whole food blog/instagram culture has encourage college kids and younger professionals to spend more these days. Not that there's anything inherently wrong with it but young people are taking the impression that eating out everyday or every other day should be a common habit because of social media. This is probably the reason why more high end restaurants have been popping up as of late, to the point that a P400 meal is "normal".
It's really none of my business how they spend their money, just an observation.
Ako I save 30% of my income. Hindi maiiwasan gumastos minsan since you have to socialize a lot during your 20's. But for all other things I have pretty much live on a college student's budget. P100 Haircut, 50 peso lunch at the Carinderia, commuting etc.
Luho ko lang talaga ay books (which are from Booksale lang), grocery items (mostly imported) and my weekly tennis. I buy branded stuff din like clothes from Brooks Brothers or Ralph Lauren but this is like once every 5 months.

today.. my current savings is around several hundred thousands na lang.. Unlike before na millions..
whatever you earn (allowance, revenue, payroll/salary), take out your savings first before you budget. that should address all of your problems in savings.
Nasira ang aking way of savings sa dami ng gastos. Hahaha. Hirap ng may pinag-aaral. Haaays
Someone told me about 70-30 savings tip. Let say you have 100. Keep the 30 pesos of your 100, that's your savings.
INCOME - SAVINGS = BUDGET

lol! 86-14 ang gingawa ko for several years na. ang gastos ko is yung 14%. savings na yung the rest.
Already revised my Cash Flow program to-date based on my compensation and I find it weird coz' i only have almost 10% free money but still I can managed to spend beyond that 10% without having shortage.

I had this scheme when I was living with my parents since everything had it's budget block.
Now I'm living alone, there are certain upkeep expenses you can't discount like rent and bills. Of course, there are workarounds like electricity bill will allow you up to 2 months before they disconnect you, while water bill will allow you only a month before they disconnect...

What's your insurance? I'm still looking for a short to mid term investement.
^ what kind of insurance are you loking for? what type of investment ang gusto mo? btw, walang investment na short term...
I've been looking for an investment vehicle that accumulates at least 10% per annum.

Well, that's already in place.

and what is your risk appetite in general?
I have a small manageable fund that I can test out. Of course the fund is not something I'd be needing in the next few years. Just want to check out some investment options.
6 digits?
Starting my saving plan again :)

From Francisco Colayco:
1. Understand risk and don't make bigh purchases you're not sure you can pay.
"Growth, or making money, we can't fully control. But the risk, we can." said Mr. Colayco. "Ninety percent of us are focused on the gains, not on what could happen that could make us lose our investment. Having said that, we should be aware that whatever we invest, we can stand to lose. If we can't afford to lose our investments, [we shouldn't] risk them."
Asked why some high-income people also find it difficult to save money, Mr. Colayco answered: "The biggest mistake people with money can make is premature acquisition of assets. They have enough for a down payment, they make the purchase. When asked how they will pay the amortization, they answer 'I'll find a way.' You can't think like that, because the agreement you've entered into is an obligation that you have to pay whether or not you've made any profits. If you have no guarantee that you can pay, don't make the investment, even if you have enough for the down payment."
2. Set aside at least 20 percent of your income as savings.
For people with regular jobs and regular pay, Mr. Colayco recommends that 20 percent of their pay go to savings. "This money can go to emergency funds, for payments of term insurance for accidents or deaths, especially if you have a family. If you have a family, insurance is technical, not an investment. Insurance is protection."
"There's one company that has a nice practice that, if your pay is P1000, they only give you P900, and the P100 is forced savings. And it's yours. They don't give it to you, and they save it for you. And when you retire or resign, they give it to you. Not all companies are like this, but I wish they all were," added Mr. Colayco.
3. Live within your means, not beyond.
Mr. Colayco has some advice for those with irregular jobs or low income as well. "If your basic salary is low, like PHP10,000, then adjust your lifestyle," he advises. "Don't live in a place you can't afford. When you have a family, that's when it'll be a little difficult. So you have to find a little extra income. There's nothing magical about money."
"The National Statistics Office says that food expenses can go up to 40 percent of your income," he added, "but if you can, don't let rent, transportation and food go above 60 percent of your income. The remaining 40 percent should be set aside for savings, some leisure money, clothes, etc."
come to think of it, everyhting they say is basic and "no-brainer" in a sense that everyone knows about it. it's really the discipline to control the money you have. I suggest put some "security" to your savings by making it hard for you to access it.
The discipline to save is in fact very difficult that one company offered to take out the money before it reaches you. that way it is less painful to save up. medyo psychological but it works. i think bpi offers this type of service - you set an amount that will be deducted and will be kept in a different savings account.
True. People have to start somewhere. :-)

Ang EF is equivalent to 6 months salary(BASIC*6=EF). Dapat lahat tayo meron neto. Etong EF ang gagamitin mo just in case nahospital ka, natanggal sa trabaho..blah blah blah ;D). Wag mo galawin yung EF mo 'gat di talaga importante.

I don't save. That's my prob.
By next year start na ulet ako mag-save. Ahaha... nawala disiplina ko this year. Pero may naipon naman kahit pano.
Advise lang guys always have plans for your money.
Income-savings=expenses. Ang hirap sa umpisa mssanay din nman :)
