Jelly Watches: Stylish or Not?

“Exactly where do you get it?” was the question I had in mind when I first saw some guy wearing this kind of watch a couple of months ago. Actually, I wasn’t really enticed when I saw one of these jelly watches. In fact, I ignored it right away. I thought it was a little childish to wear one but I have to admit that it really stands out and it has now become more popular than ever.

I saw two types of these watches. One is made by ODM:

And the other is made by Levi’s:

I’m not sure if “Jelly watches” is the correct term to call it. So if anyone knows the correct name, post a comment right away. 🙂

Anyway, I’ve heard that the one made by Levi’s is being worn by a famous Asian actor so I see it being worn more often here in the Philippines. Out of curiosity, I asked a friend of mine how much these are and he said it was something like 4,000 Pesos? Quite expensive I must say!

But then again, if the cost isn’t an issue to you and you love the style, why not? The only thing that bothers me is that if this is just a fad in the country at the moment, you may find the watch difficult or inappropriate to wear a few months later. Well, that’s fashion after all. Now it’s in, the next day it’s out!

Ayos lang naman yan.. tsaka di issue kung mawala yan sa uso.. nasa pagdala rin naman ng susuot nyan.. ang problema nga lang dapat ibagay mo yung kulay ng relo sa attire mo.. afterall, fashion is about mixing and matching..

I am a fan of watches but i do not buy these types. definitely this one is a fad. and another type of watch that i see nowadays is the “toy watch” as the tindera’s call it. very thin strap that looks like a bracelet – with a digital clock. (similar to a phi-ten bracelet but its a watch)

gah, i dont know how to describe it

The special Tim Yap, SUPER Pilipinas ODM special line is
so damn good. it’s simple but it leaves a pretty good statement
to everyone who sees it. I have no idea that the other collection
above came from Levis but what i can say is ODM is much more
pricey, it ranges from 5250 up to 6500, i think. straps cost
around 3000 in The Shang.

yeah, i think jelly watches are the proper term for them… hehehe! ^^, they’re a great alternative to the regular metal and leather strapped timepieces we usually wear, and they look nice and playful. i remember reading a comment saying that they aren’t appropriate for men, but i beg to disagree. you just need to pick out a set that suits your personality.

i have an ODM knock-off that i bought from a friend of mine (i won’t spend more than 5k on a watch… hehehe), that’s two-toned (orange and red), and has a nice blue rim, and a lime green face. it’s an outrageous combo, really… but when you wear it with a simple graphic t-shirt, jeans and regular sneaks, it complements a regular weekend get-up.

overall, it’s a great casual accessory ^^,
