Last month, my friends and I got invited to the grand opening of a restaurant somewhere in Uptown BGC. We got thrilled to visit the place until we saw this in the invitation:
Resort Chic Attire? “What the heck is that?”, my friend Marvin asked me point blank.
“Dunno”, I said. We both laughed.
The funny thing is that, if you blog about men’s fashion, people would expect you to be the know-it-all and the go-to guy when it comes to choosing what clothes to wear. But that’s not always the case. To be honest, even if I’m a menswear blogger, there are those times where I need to do my research to find out which clothes are appropriate to wear on occasions having strange and somewhat uncommon dress codes. I consider each and every opportunity like this as a dressing-up learning experience which I can share with readers like you.
So if you’re about to attend an event with a resort chic dress code (which is becoming the norm in parties these days), then here below is a good example which I wore at the restaurant’s opening.
For my top, I picked a teal/blue/white color combination polo shirt from Lee.
Then I decided to mix and match that shirt with an existing pair of white jeans I own from Penshoppe as pictured below.
For my footwear, I wore this new Sebago Docksides which I featured in PGG a few weeks ago.
You see, the basic idea of “Resort Chic” attire, is to wear something that makes you feel like you’re riding a yacht (think: Nautica ads). The best color combination for your ensemble is one which is within the palettes of blue, white and pastel. Oh, and make sure to not wear socks when putting on your boat shoes.
